GTA 6 PC Release Date: What Take-Two Has Said

GTA 6 is less than two months away on console, and PC players are once again waiting for news. Here is exactly what Rockstar and Take-Two have said about a PC version, how long Rockstar has made PC players wait in the past, and the most realistic window for a release.

Is There a GTA 6 PC Release Date?

No. Rockstar has confirmed November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S only. There is no PC version announced, no PC release window and no official PC system requirements.

What Take-Two Has Said

In May 2026 Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained the console first approach by saying that you are judged by serving the core. He also estimated that PC can account for 45% to 50% of sales on a major Take-Two launch. Read together, that is a strong signal that a PC version is planned for later, since no publisher leaves half of a potential market untouched for long.

How Long Rockstar Has Made PC Players Wait

GTA 4 reached PC about 7 months after console, from April 2008 to December 2008. GTA 5 took about 19 months, from September 2013 to April 2015, and Rockstar did not even confirm the PC version until mid 2014. Red Dead Redemption 2 took about 12 months, from October 2018 to November 2019.

The pattern is consistent: Rockstar ships on console, supports it for months, and announces PC once the console version has settled. It rarely announces a PC date before the console game is out.

Our PC Release Estimate

Applying the same gaps to a November 19, 2026 console launch gives a range from about June 2027 at the fastest to about June 2028 at the slowest. GTA 6 is a bigger and more technically demanding game than any of those three, and the GTA Online component is expected to arrive after launch, both of which point toward the longer end. Our estimate is late 2027 at the earliest, with 2028 more likely, and an announcement probably not before mid 2027.

Why Rockstar Ports Take So Long

Rockstar builds its games around fixed console hardware first, then treats the PC version as a separate project with its own performance work, graphics options and anti-cheat. GTA 5's PC release in 2015 added a higher frame rate, 4K support and the Rockstar Editor, and Red Dead Redemption 2's PC version shipped with far more visual settings than the console original. Those extras take time, and Rockstar has consistently chosen to wait rather than ship a basic port.

Piracy and cheating are part of the calculation too. GTA Online's economy made PC cheating a serious problem for years, and a delayed PC launch gives Rockstar time to prepare for it.

What PC Players Can Do Now

There is nothing to pre-order on PC, and any store listing claiming otherwise is not official. If you want to be ready, the most useful step is to wait for official specifications rather than upgrade early, since hardware prices and recommendations will look different by 2027. In the meantime, GTA 5 Enhanced and Red Dead Redemption 2 are both available on PC and show how Rockstar approaches its PC versions.

What We Know About the Console Launch
