Deadlock's roster has grown to 38 heroes, and Valve's habit of adding them in batches of six means a list from last year is already out of date. This page lists every playable character as of September 28, 2026, with the two-word role tags the game gives each one, plus a quick look at who is winning on the current build.

How Many Characters Are in Deadlock?

There are 38 playable heroes. Deadlock does not sort them into fixed classes. Instead each hero carries two short tags that describe how they play, which is why a hero like Abrams reads Tank and Brawler while Vindicta reads Sniper and Soaring. Matches are six against six across three lanes, so a team of six picks from the pool with no duplicates, and Ranked adds three hero bans per match.

All 38 Deadlock Heroes and Their Tags

Grouping the Roster by Playstyle

The tags point to a handful of loose families. Frontline heroes who start fights and survive them include Abrams, Warden, Mo and Krill, Dynamo and Victor. Long range damage dealers include Vindicta, Grey Talon, Holliday and Vyper. Close range assassins who punish isolated targets include Haze, Drifter, Wraith, Yamato and Shiv.

Support heroes are rarer than in most team games. Paige, Rem, Kelvin, McGinnis and Mirage all carry protector or helpful style tags, and Paige in particular has become one of the strongest picks in the game. Disruptors such as Paradox, Viscous, Ivy, The Doorman and Celeste control space rather than chase kills.

Who Is Winning on the Current Build

On build 6694, measured across every skill bracket, Graves leads at a 56.7% win rate, with Victor at 56.3%, Paige at 55.7% and Seven at 55.4%. At the other end Sinclair sits at 44.0% and Mirage at 44.8%. Popularity tells a different story: Haze appears in 55.7% of matches, and Bebop and Lash are close behind, so a high pick rate is no guarantee of a strong hero.

Our Deadlock tier list ranks all 38 heroes from S to F with win and pick rates, and our Deadlock ranks guide explains the new Ranked ladder you need 15 wins on each hero to enter.

Picking Your First Hero

New players are usually best served by heroes with simple, forgiving kits and strong current numbers. Abrams is the classic starting point: a Tank and Brawler who survives mistakes, wins lanes through sheer durability and teaches the basics of when to engage. He sits in A tier at 52.6% on the current build.

Paige is the strongest option for players who prefer helping teammates to chasing kills, with a 55.7% win rate across all brackets. Seven is a good first damage hero because his High Voltage kit rewards positioning more than precise aim, and he is in S tier at 55.4%.

Heroes to leave until later include Sinclair, whose Copycat kit depends on reading enemy abilities, Mirage, whose value comes from travel and rotations that new players have not learned yet, and Viscous, whose disruption tools are easy to misuse. All three sit below 47% win rate across all brackets.

Whatever you pick, remember that Ranked only lets you bring a hero once you have 15 Standard wins on them, and you need three such heroes before you can queue at all. Settling on a small pool early saves a lot of time.

When New Heroes Arrive

Valve has added heroes in large batches rather than one at a time. The August 2025 visual overhaul brought six new heroes chosen partly through community voting, and the January 2026 Old Gods, New Blood update added another six along with the Street Brawl mode. Valve has not published a schedule for the next batch, and the game remains in beta with no release date.

How We Researched This

Methodology

The roster was taken from the Deadlock Wiki hero index on September 28, 2026 and cross-checked against two hero statistics sites to confirm all 38 names are live and playable. Role tags are the two-word descriptors each hero carries in the game and on the wiki. Win rates come from MetaBot.GG's tier list for build 6694, updated September 28, 2026, across all skill brackets. Deadlock is still in beta, so the roster and numbers can change with any patch, and this page is set for a quarterly review.
